Undergraduate Scholarships

Scholarship applications are now generally done online and due in February. Please use this link to complete and submit your applications and check deadlines. Complete both the PSU general application and the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science supplemental application to be eligible for scholarships from PSU and MCECS.

Vatheuer Family Foundation Scholarships

Awarded to civil engineering students (not structural) and traditionally underrepresented minorities or recent immigrants.

American Concrete Institute Scholarship (Oregon Chapter)

Applicants must be juniors or seniors enrolled at least 9 credit hours and maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5. Selection is based on financial need, GPA, residency/citizenship, enrollment in an applicable program, and anticipated contribution in the field of concrete technology.

American Public Works Association Scholarship (Oregon Section)

Awarded to a full-time upper division student enrolled in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Must have been an Oregon resdent for at least four years. Financial need is a consideration.

American Society of Civil Engineers Scholarship (Oregon Section)

Awarded to a full-time senior with a 3.00+ GPA majoring in civil engineering who is completing his or her junior year in June of the application year. Preference given to students participating in ASCE Student Chapter activities. Financial need given secondary consideration.

David Evans & Associates Civil Engineering Scholarships

Awarded to upper-division civil engineering majors with a 3.00+ GPA and a demonstrated fincancial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

KPFF Consulting Engineers Structural Engineering Scholarship

Awarded to a sophomore or junior civil engineering student(emphasis on structural engineering) with minimum GPA 3.20. Must be available for part-time and/or summer applicant at KPFF Consulting Engineers.

Structural Engineers Association of Oregon Scholarships

Awarded to students specializing in strucural engineering with a 3.00+ GPA who have completed their junior year in June of the application year. Applications must have been Oregon residents for four years prior to the award, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and demonstrate a financial need.

Coral Sales Scholarships

Coral Sales Company of Milwaukie, Oregon offers scholarships of $1,000 each to outstanding individuals (one male and one female) pursuing Civil Engineering studies in the College of Engineering.The recipient must intend to pursue a career in Highway/Transportation Engineering or Highway Construction and have lived in the Northwest for a period of at least six years.

American Public Works Association Scholarship (APWA) - Oregon Section Scholarship 2008

Each year since 1982 the Oregon Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) has awarded a scholarship to a civil engineering, geomatics or geotechnical student at the Portland State University. The scholarships were established to recognize and financially assist students who are interested in pursuing a career in the broad field of Public Works.

Full-time civil engineering and geomatics students who have achieved junior standing at the beginning of the academic year of the award will be considered for the scholarship. Students who receive the award during their junior year will again be eligible for the award during their senior year, assuming they maintain eligibility for the scholarship. Course work must be taken at the school where the scholarship is awarded. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Application must be submitted to the Department by May 9, 2008.

NATIONAL SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS

Coral Sales / Douglas P. Daniels

Coral Sales Company of Milwaukie, Oregon is pleased to offer two scholarships for the 2008-09 school year of $1,000 each to outstanding individuals (one male and one female) pursuing Civil Engineering studies in the College of Engineering. The criteria for these scholarships are as follows:

  • The recipient must intend to pursue a career in Highway/Transportation Engineering or Highway Construction.
  • Outstanding leadership qualities and participation in extracurricular activities, both civil as well as professional, will be given significant weight.
  • Applicant's GPA will not be considered in award of these scholarships. However, applicants must exceed a minimum GPA requirements for the School of Engineering.
  • The recipient must have lived in the Northwest for a period of at least six years.
  • Students must be full time and have senior or junior standing; However, students with senior standing will be given priority.
  • Prior Coral Sales Company scholarship winners are not eligible.

Women's Transportation Seminar - Oregon Chapter

WTS Portland Chapter scholarship for $2000 graduate and $2000 undergraduate awards are presented in spring. Winners are often eligible for WTS International scholarships of $6000 at the graduate level and $3000 at the undergraduate level. ITS Oregon Chapter

ITS Oregon is the state chapter of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America). ITS Oregon is a volunteer organization whose members promote intelligent transportation system deployment through partnership building, education and outreach. Undergraduate

The objective of this Undergraduate Scholarship Program is to foster the development of practicing engineers and constructors in the field of site-cast reinforced concrete construction. The scholarship program provides financial assistance to undergraduate students, namely, seniors majoring in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering, seeking their Bachelor’s Degrees.

Structural Engineers Association of Oregon Scholarships (SEAO) Scholarship 2008

This merit-based and need-based scholarship has been established to recognize and financially assist students interested in structures. The qualified candidate is an established local resident pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in structures.

Application must be submitted to the Department by May 9, 2008.

OCAPA Scholarship 2008

Oregon Concrete & Aggregate Producers Association (OCAPA) educational fund is sponsoring scholarships for deserving students pursuing a career related to the construction materials industry. Areas of study may include, but are not limited to, construction materials, engineering, geology, architecture, land use planning, biology, and fish & wildlife studies.

WHO MAY APPLY? Any to junior, senior, or fifth year students enrolled at an Oregon university or college encompassing disciplines related to the constructions materials industry may apply who will be enrolling full time in an academic institution for the
year beginning in September following the date of application. Students must be citizens of the United States. The academic institution may be either a four year college or a community college with a recognized related course of study. Scholarships will be applied toward full or part-time tuition costs for one calendar year, not exceed $3,000.

Application must be submitted to the Department by May 23, 2008.

Water Resources

Association of State Dam Safety Officials

2008 Dam Safety Scholarship Program - Scholarships up to $10,000 will be awarded for the 2008/2009 school year. Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level (during the 2008/2009 school year) in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams. Undergraduate students planning to graduate in May/December 2009 will be eligible for the 2008 scholarship. Minimum Criteria - Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for the first three years of college and be recommended by their academic advisor. They must also submit a typewritten essay on the topic: What is ASDSO and why is dam safety important. Applications are due to the ASDSO by 3/28/08.
