American Public Works Association Scholarship (APWA) - Oregon Chapter

Each year since 1982 the Oregon Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) has awarded a scholarship to a civil engineering, geomatics or geotechnical student at Portland State Unviersity. The scholarships were established to recognize and financially assist students who are interested in pursuing a career in the broad field of Public Works.

Eligibility Full-time civil engineering and geomatics students who have achieved junior standing at the beginning of the academic year of the award will be considered for the scholarship. Students who receive the award during their junior year will again be eligible for the award during their senior year, assuming they maintain eligibility for the scholarship. Course work must be taken at the school where the scholarship is awarded. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Selection Criteria 1. Junior or senior standing at the beginning of the academic year of the award. 2. Student enrolled in a civil engineering, geomatics or geotechnical program working toward a Bachelor of Science degree. 3. Demonstrated financial need for the scholarship. 4. United States citizen. 5. Four-year resident of the state of Oregon.

Structural Engineers Association of Oregon Scholarship Foundation

This merit-based and need-based scholarship has been established to recognize and financially assist students interested in structures. The qualified candidate is an established local resident pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in structures.

Applicant must be pursuing a BSCE degree or MSCE degree from an ABET-accredited program (http://www.abet.org/). Applicant must be a full-time student and complete two terms of junior-level civil engineering classes during the academic year preceding the award. Applicant must have a cumulative, all-course G. P. A. of 3.00 or higher. Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident, and have been a resident of Oregon or Clark County, Washington for four years prior to the year of award. Applicant shall demonstrate a need for financial assistance and demonstrate a desire to practice structural engineering in Oregon.

Coral Sales / Douglas P. Daniels Scholarship

Coral Sales Company of Milwaukie, Oregon is pleased to offer two scholarships for the 2008-09 school year of $1,000 each to outstanding individuals (one male and one female) pursuing Civil Engineering studies in the College of Engineering.

* The recipient must intend to pursue a career in Highway/Transportation Engineering or Highway Construction. * Outstanding leadership qualities and participation in extracurricular activities, both civil as well as professional, will be given significant weight. * Applicant's GPA will not be considered in award of these scholarships. Dam Safety 2010 Student Paper Competition

The Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO)invites students to submit papers on topics related to dam and levee safety, including engineering, geology, hydrology, hydraulics, environmental & agricultural sciences, design, construction, risk, hazard mitigation, emergency management, floods, floodplain management, case studies, security, policy issues & more. Winners will present their papers at Dam Safety 2010, ASDSO¡¦s Annual National Conference, to be held in Seattle, September 19-23, 2010.

Eligibility: „hƒn Students must be actively pursuing a degree at a U.S. college or university at the time of the abstract deadline (February 10, 2010). „hƒn Full-time, part-time and cooperative education students are eligible. „hƒnAward winners must present their papers at Dam Safety 2010. OCAPA Scholarship

Oregon Concrete & Aggregate Producers Association (OCAPA) educational fund is sponsoring scholarships for deserving students pursuing a career related to the construction materials industry. Areas of study may include, but are not limited to, construction materials, engineering, geology, architecture, land use planning, biology, and fish & wildlife studies.

WHO MAY APPLY? Any to junior, senior, or fifth year students enrolled at an Oregon university or college encompassing disciplines related to the constructions materials industry may apply who will be enrolling full time in an academic institution for the year beginning in September following the date of application. Students must be citizens of the United States. The academic institution may be either a four year college or a community college with a recognized related course of study. Scholarships will be applied toward full or part-time tuition costs for one calendar year, not exceed $2,000.

Wire Reinforcement Institute (WRI) Scholarship Opportunity

The WRI Education Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt charitable organization, was formed for the specific purpose of funding and awarding these scholarships to qualified high school seniors, as well as current undergraduate/graduate students pursuing degrees in structural and/or civil engineering at accredited four-year universities or colleges in the United States and Canada. The foundations’ principal mission is to encourage and advance the study of civil and structural engineering through the award of these scholarships. As an ancillary benefit, the Foundation seeks to expand the knowledge and understanding of structural Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR) and its application into future generations of structural and civil engineers.

Scholarships will not exceed one year and will be awarded for a specified academic year only. Awarded scholarship funds will be paid by the WRI directly to the University or college designated by the recipient. Scholarships applications for the 2009-10 academic year.

2009-2010 ITE Scholarship and Fellowship Awards Brochure

ITE announces the availability of the 2009-2010 ITE Scholarship and Fellowship Awards Brochure for students to download and apply. The application deadline for ITE offered fellowships/scholarships is April 1, 2009. Any applications or recommendations received after this date will not be considered by the judges. All award appilcations are to be submitted electronically and formatted in Adobe Acrobat to the contact note in each annoucement. Failure to follow these guidelines will cause the award not to be judged. Applications for any award should be prepared based upon stated eligibility criteria that have been established for the awards. All award submissions become the property of ITE. Association of State Dam Safety Officials

2009 Dam Safety Scholarship Program - Scholarships up to $10,000 will be awarded for the 2009/2010 school year. Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level (during the 2009/2010 school year) in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams. Undergraduate students planning to graduate in May/December 2010 will be eligible for the 2009 scholarship. Minimum Criteria - Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for the first three years of college and be recommended by their academic advisor. They must also submit a typewritten essay on the topic: What is ASDSO and why is dam safety important.

This scholarship is offered by the Oregon Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers to promote the advancement of the transportation profession by providing financial assistance to students pursuing degrees in transportation engineering or other related fields.

Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund is pleased to announce the continuation of this scholarship for the tenth consecutive year. This is a great opportunity for students pursuing careers in construction or a construction related field. With the generous help from our customers, vendors, employees, and friends, we have been able to award 107 scholarships totaling $240,000.000 to date.

American Water Works Association Pacific Northwest Section

These scholarships are intended for students whose training will lead to a career in public water supply and who are enrolled in civil or environmental engineering, water/wastewater technology or allied fields. Students enrolled in other programs, which point them toward a career in public water supply industry, are also encouraged to apply. This year's seven awards will range from $2,500-$4,000. Qualifications: scholastic achievement is a major factor and AWWA membership is encouraged, but not required.

ESM Civil Engineering Land Development Scholarship Program

ESM Consulting Engineers LLC is a full service civil engineering firm specializing in land development in the Pacific Northwest. We design a wide variety of projects, from large master plan communities to smaller residential developments and commercial sites. ESM is pleased to offer an academic scholarship competition for civil engineering undergraduate students in civil engineering schools in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.

Program Elements ESM will be awarding 3 scholarships to Junior and Senior level undergrads.
